Hospitality industry Now and After covid-19
Who would imagine few years ago the worlwide situation on 2020? Probably nobody. Of course there are many different science fiction senarios with global viruses like Resident Evil or the Walking Dead and the mass control theories as in the famous fiction novel “1984”by George Orwell.
However the reality is somewhere between those senarios. What will be the consequences after the end of the covid story? To be more specific ,what will be the consequences in the hospitality industry?
Right now i am drinking my coffee in my office while i am checking constantly my emails hoping that the #TouristicRestart is somewhere on the way. The difference with the previous 10 years is that i have plenty of time to clear my thoughts and rebuild my online/offline strategy as a professional hotelier.
The first article that i read today was about a Hilton’s survey.According to a new study released Monday by Hilton, 95% of Americans are missing travel.Sounds funny . Do we really need a survey for such news?According to my poor thoughts all the nationalities are missing travel. Statistics are showing us that we have a huge increase of hotel searches but with the worse conversion rate ever. Every single OTA has some options for the hotel about the Covid measures that they took to protect the employees and the future guests.Its not the fear of covid and not even the economical problems but the unstability of the european covernments who are changing the travel laws every week.The million worth tour operators are pushing their countries so they are treated differently.That is something that creates imbalances in the market for the countries and also for the hoteliers. Different market, different treatment , big foul and food for Thought.
I hope that the vaccine will give us a positive boost in our mood and we gonna #RestartTravel the soonest. For the moment some old time Classic Christmas movies like #Homealone and #LoveActually for the fans of the romantic genre will warm our hearts.
